Boombotix Boombot REX Review

If you follow me on Spotify, you know I’m always listening to something different. The music doesn’t stop when I leave work either, thanks to the Boombotix Boombot REX portable Bluetooth speaker. For a while I was running the Boombot2 speaker and when the opportunity came to try out the Boombot REX, I nearly jumped out of my seat with excitement.

The Boombot2 was surprisingly loud to begin with, so I had the bar set pretty high for the Boombotix REX. Upon receiving and unpacking the REX, the first thing I did was ride out to Winooski to get a few beers with Hunt. This was the perfect opportunity to test out the speaker’s volume. I cued up my Motown playlist and set out towards the Woo. During the brief three-mile ride, I had at least five people waving or giving me the thumbs up; either because they were just as hyped on the Jimmy Ruffin or I just looked like a crazy guy on a bike blasting Motown. I’d like to think the attention was due to the former.

Anyway, this speaker is even louder than the Boombot2! Just like the 2, the REX allows you to either connect via auxiliary or Bluetooth. However, I’ve found you can make the most ruckus by running the two simultaneously with an auxiliary cord. If you don’t have two speakers, rest assured you’ll still be making some serious noise. The 36mm drivers and bass will be more than enough to start a small party at the park. What’s more, you can even answer phone calls while the speaker is connected by simply touching a button! No more restarting Spotify after your buddy calls and interrupts you.

These Boombotix speakers are great…and I can say that with full confidence. If you know me personally, you’ll always see me rolling around with the REX whether it’s riding into town for a beer or skating flat at the waterfront. Check out the offerings at Boombotix and ditch that ghetto iPhone-in-the-can setup you’ve been using!
