Jason Finn, along with his buddy Chester Blacksmith of Wethepeople bmx, have been on quite the epic motorcycle journey this past week as they’re heading from Portland, OR to Austin, TX with camping gear and bmx bikes.

This right here is what I need in my life right now…maybe it’s time to plan a northeast bike / concrete skatepark tour? Who’s with me? August would a great month for such a journey…

Check out more photos of the trip so far on their Tumblr page. Happy Monday.

Papermill DIY Spot With Sasha Yakovleff & Ben Haulenbeek

sasha_papermill_quarterpipe

As I’m sure you’re getting bombarded everywhere with amazing photos from NAHBS, I thought I’d break it up a bit with some solid Vermont content. I mean, I had an amazing time out in Denver, but I’ve got so many more photos to sort through – so more on that soon. The folks at MTBVT posted up a few photos of Sasha Yakovleff shot by Ben Haulenbeek riding a variation of quarterpipes, hips and wallrides down in southern Vermont.  Now this is what I call a spot! If only we could find something similar for the Wild Billz to occupy for the winter…

There are a couple more photos below, but be sure to head over to MTBVT and read their interview with Sasha and Ben.

NAHBS 2013 Day 1: Ground Up Speed Shop

SONY DSC

NAHBS Day 1….wow, where to start? With so many beautiful bicycles and so little time, I felt like a cat chasing a laser pointer only to be distracted by another shiny object before turning my attention back to the laser. Stupid analogy, I know, but for real – the bikes I saw today blew my mind on many levels. It was great to be able to compare and contrast the different builder’s styles, and with so many unique bicycles to boot.

Eric Baar of Ground Up had some extremely rad things going on at his booth and as far as I know, displayed the only BMX bike at the show. His hand lettering also really caught my eye. He even continued to paint the headtube of this bmx while on display! See a couple more shots below.
