REW10 WORKS Singlespeed Cyclocross

8317244763_4d855c7c1b_c

The folks at Blue Lug really pump out some of the nicest and best looking custom complete bikes. Take this singlespeed REW10 Works cyclocross bike for example: a custom lugged ‘cross frame painted by Cook Paint Works and dressed with some choice bits including some DT Swiss 350s hubs laced to HED Belgium rims and wrapped ion Challenge Limus tires. If Mr. Versatility and Ms. Classy had a lovechild, I have a feeling it’d look something like this bicycle. Check out some more shots below as well as the full spec list.

Death Spray Custom: The Complete Formula

You’ve seen the a few of the DSC Formula videos earlier, now check out the complete recipe behind the stunning work of Death Spray Custom. This couldn’t have been done any better – hats off to DSC.

The Death Spray Custom Formula: Black

Yet another video in the Death Spray Custom formula series. My stance on black is exactly the same:
“Black: jet black, pitch black, coal black, black magic, black arts; before there was life, there was black. The color that says everything, yet says nothing. When all black cannot be used, use white.”

The Death Spray Custom Formula: Safe House & Patience

I love this. I mean pretty much everything that comes outta DSC I’m backing, and this formula is applicable to more than just painting & creating.

“Safe house: a safe house is a space that’s in a secret location, used by spies or criminals in hiding. Before you start creating, find your safe house.”

“Patience: If there’s one thing to avoid in any working practice, it’s the shortcut. They do nothing but get you to your next problem quicker. Take your time and enjoy the communion between you and your work.”

See how this formula is put into practice at Death Spray Custom.

Custom Surly Neck Romancer by Blue Lug

custom surly neck romancer (5)

In case you couldn’t tell, I’ve been geeking on fat bikes lately. I caught the bug last winter, promising myself that I’d try to get one together for this winter. Good news is, I’ve secured a Surly Neck Romancer and am hoping to build it up this weekend. It’s not gonna be as flashy as this custom Neck Romancer Pug from Japan’s Blue Lug. In fact, it’ll be the exact opposite: murdered out. The rad part about the Neck Romancer is it’s equipped with 82 mm rims (vs 65mm on the standard Pugsley) and a Moonlander fork; making for a bigger footprint and the potential for even fatter rubber up front.

This custom Neck Romancer features a florescent paint job by Cook Paint Works, Hope evo2 hubs to those 82 mm Rolling Darryl rims, and some flashy white WCS risers. I’d ride it, though I can’t wait to have my own built. Let’s hope we get some real snow soon! It’s been 643 days since Burlington’s gotten more than 6+ inches of snow in a given storm…there’s still hope.

Sunrise Cycles: Bo99y’s Road Bike

sunrise cycles road bike (5)

This recent road bike by Sunrise Cycles is unreal. As soon as I laid eyes on the first photo, “Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds” began playing in my head. I don’t know if I personally would ride anything quite this loud, though you gotta give it up for the attention to detail. This also reminds me of Hunt’s collage bikes – be sure to check those out if you haven’t already.

Death Spray Custom: Vintage Eames Chair & Splinter Camoflage

The work of Death Spray Custom never ceases to impress me. Each project is so diverse in not only the material/medium being painted, but also the techniques used. I’ve been geekin’ out over DSC ever since I stumbled across David’s work back in 2010…just look at how much wear my tee’s gotten in that time.
