Death Spray Custom: The Complete Formula

You’ve seen the a few of the DSC Formula videos earlier, now check out the complete recipe behind the stunning work of Death Spray Custom. This couldn’t have been done any better – hats off to DSC.

The Death Spray Custom Formula: Black

Yet another video in the Death Spray Custom formula series. My stance on black is exactly the same:
“Black: jet black, pitch black, coal black, black magic, black arts; before there was life, there was black. The color that says everything, yet says nothing. When all black cannot be used, use white.”

The Death Spray Custom Formula: Safe House & Patience

I love this. I mean pretty much everything that comes outta DSC I’m backing, and this formula is applicable to more than just painting & creating.

“Safe house: a safe house is a space that’s in a secret location, used by spies or criminals in hiding. Before you start creating, find your safe house.”

“Patience: If there’s one thing to avoid in any working practice, it’s the shortcut. They do nothing but get you to your next problem quicker. Take your time and enjoy the communion between you and your work.”

See how this formula is put into practice at Death Spray Custom.

The work of Death Spray Custom never ceases to impress me. Each project is so diverse in not only the material/medium being painted, but also the techniques used. I’ve been geekin’ out over DSC ever since I stumbled across David’s work back in 2010…just look at how much wear my tee’s gotten in that time.

Keith Watts for DSC: G is for Grand Prix

keith watts g is for grand prix

This may not be bicycle-related, but I’ve really been enjoying the A-Z of DSC series by Keith Watts, and the most recent G is for Grand Prix is probably one of my favorites yet, after C is for Camo. Head over to Death Spray Custom to see the earlier drawings.

The White Canvas Project

Great video from the recent show in LA: The White Canvas Project featuring live painting from Memuco, FoodOne, KophnsOne, Leba, Death Spray Custom, David Walker & She One.

Read up more on the event here.

Tokyo Fixed Gear & Death Spray Custom Lo Pro aka ONO

Oh, would you look at that? Tokyo Fixed Gear and Death Spray Custom came together on this Lo Pro, also being called the ONO. So far we know it’s a fillet-brazed Columbus MAX tube set with paint by Death Spray Custom. Can’t wait to see more.

White Canvas Project LA: Death Spray Custom

The White Canvas Project is coming to Los Angeles for its second round and will feature the works of Leba, Food One, Koffinz, Memuco, Death Spray Custom, David Walker & SheOne – I can’t wait to see some coverage!

The event takes place on February 24th at the iam8bit gallery in W.Sunset, LA.

Oh yes – Death Spray Custom, one of my favorites, has this way of consistently blending art and functionality into anything he works on; much of which has to do with 2-wheeled mobility.  Just take a look at some of DSC’s work here.

“A dose of dry wit and automotive urethane paint is the chosen medium for DSC (Death Spray Custom). Brought up in Wales on a diet of two wheels, DSC often works in themes of subversion and desire, often in the world of mobility. The results are simple, striking and shiny pieces of work that purposefully blur the lines between art, brands and consumerism.”

Check out the video from the first four-day paint jam and get an idea of what to expect (if you’re luck enough to be in LA for this).
