Filme von Draussen: We Ride Because

We ride, because _____. from Filme von Draussen on Vimeo.

Some really nice footage here, though I’d say the text is a little distracting. Nevertheless, this got me excited for some snow riding and to get back on the mountain bike. Enjoy.

Singlespeed USA Vermont

I think this video from Rob Doerre really showcases the vibe from this year’s Singlespeed USA mountain bike race in Stowe, VT. I couldn’t make it out, but friends tell me it was quite the ride. See some more coverage at Dirt Rag.

While Out Riding

while out riding blog (2)

Adam of Cycle EXIF posted a link to this amazing blog on Facebook earlier, and I’ve literally spent the last 45 minutes reading about the epic bikepacking adventures on While Out Riding. The site features some stunning photography, and documents personal bike journeys from Prudoe Bay, Alaska and bike adventures throughout the American back roads. If you’ve got the time, I suggest reading about their most recent 250-mile Coco-di-loco mountain bike / bikepacking adventure in 4 days.

Trailblazing Bali

Doesn’t this just look like a blast? Not only would taking a trip anywhere be appealing right now, but Bali is looking especially good here…not to mention I’ve been itching to mountain bike lately.

That reminds me, I hurt my wrist last Friday skating which is my main excuse as to posts being slow recently…not to mention my riding. It’s been in an Ace bandage for a few days, making the daily 8+ hours of  type/click work slightly uncomfortable and killing my post-work motivation for anything besides a beer or skate (ironically). Riding a mountain bike won’t happen ’til late next week at the earliest. Until then, enjoy this clip from Filme von Draussen.

Some very epic and diverse looking terrain out in Steinegg, Italy, captured by Film von Draussen on their trip to South Tyrol back in November. Enjoy in full-screen.

New Zealand by Yeti Cycles

My buddy and old roommate Dan sent this my way and I had to pass it along. I’ve been wanting to visit NZ for what feels like forever – even more so now that many of my friends have made the trip and have incredible stories. I think a bike tour out there would be incredible, don’t you? Here’s a video from Yeti Bicycles trip to New Zealand – full screen is highly recommended.

Mountain Biking With Your Dog

Mountain Biking With Your Dog

Toby’s Trail Adventure: Part I from Dirt Rag Magazine on Vimeo.

Doesn’t this look like the best time? Imagine you and your dog enjoying the same trails while he/she simultaneously films your best lines – plus they’ll be eager for a nap upon getting home.

One of my favorite mountain bike shorts I’ve seen all year. All of these are true! I think I’ll go mountain biking today, thanks Filme von Drauseen. That was pretty inspiring.

Blotto just posted a few spreads from the Spanish magazine Solobici. You may remember some of the photos we posted previously, well make sure to head to his site to see the rest of the spreads, and some more fantastic photos.

Singletracks: 1995

Head over to SingleTracks for a great post on the ealier days of mountain bike development.  Anyone know what is going on with those chainrings? I can’t imagine how something like that even worked, between chain length issues and getting your front derailleur to shift that.  Check out more of these here.
