Carbon bikes these days are a dime-a-dozen, but recently I’ve been seeing some really awe some innovations in carbon bike framebuilding. While working for Van Dessel, I learned about the difference between a monocoque frame and a tube to tube carbon wrapped frame; the latter being stiffer and lighter (technology used in the Rivet). Tube to tube is similar to a lugged steel frame in that you start with carbon tubes and join them using carbon wrap/tape. What Parlee did is create carbon lugs to join tubes; a similar and just as effective approach.

This Parlee features some next-level carbon technology featuring carbon fiber lugs for increased stiffness. Check out Above Category for some more photos and their initial reaction to it here.
