    mad dashes 2013

The Mad Dashes are back! You guys have asked for it and the good folks at Old Spokes Home have delivered once again. This’ll be the third series of indoor roller races we’ve seen here in Burlington, VT and I couldn’t be more excited. The races will take place this upcoming Tuesday the 16th at Manhattan’s Pizza and start around 6:30. Come on out for some dollar PBRs, lightening-fast cadence and great friends. More info on the Facebook event page.

  • Seven Days: Sprint Finish-Mad Dashes Coverage

Lauren Ober at Seven Days wrote an awesome article on the Mad Dashes, a roller races series here in Burlington put on by the Old Spokes Home. We’re stoked on the coverage and can’t wait for this Friday’s race at Manhattans Pizza!

Few small corrections though. Lockwood’s time in the semi-final on 3.21 was 11.518 with my runner-up time of 11.768 and I was quoted as Norris…no worries haha. For a complete list of standings to date, check out our post here.

  • The Old Spokes Home Presents: MAD DASHES

Hey everyone, we’ve been off the map for more than a minute now, but I’d like to let everyone know that we’re back and swinging full-force right now. We had some back-end issues with the wordpress, but hopefully things are worked out at this point. Speaking of which, this post has nothing to do about us.

The point here is that The Old Spokes Home’s MAD DASHES series is starting TONIGHT 6:30at the Monkey House in Winooski.

Head over to the Old Spokes Facebook for all the details and dates. Here’s a little info about how we’re doing things:

“Its time for some Mad Dashes. Spring approaches get the blood flowing! Picture two single speed bikes set up on stationary rollers, and two racers going head to head in a 250m, 500m, and 2,000m races. Speeds and times simultaneously projected during each race. A wild event for racers and spectators alike, registration is free and will be from 6:30pm – 7pm. Preliminary races begin at 7pm and finals go off at 8pm. Prizes are awarded nightly for racers and fans alike, as well as drink specials from Switchback.

This is the first race of a 6 race series. All racers are entered into a drawing for a grand prize to be awarded at the final event regardless of placement. Race all 6 events and you get 6 chances at the grand prize. There will be live music after the races at 9pm, check out the Monkey House website for details. Keep in mind that these are real bikes, wear or bring appropriate footwear (sneakers) and clothing, and come out ready to ride, ready to cheer, and ready for a good time.”

I hope to see a great turn-out tonight! I’ll be a bit late (as I’m graduating this semester and have obviously been swamped with night-class) but come out to Winooski, say hey to Hunt and Chris, spin those legs and grab a beer from Switchback!
