There’s nothing like a singlespeed 29er. The Surly Karate Monkey is a solid, no-frills all-thrills frame and ready to be built into the singlespeed mountain bike of your dreams. That’s just what Kim did here, so be sure to check out the rest of this bike below. I’ve been so excited on mountain biking lately; fall is the ideal season for it too.

2012 Single Speed Mountain Bike Worlds

2012 Single Speed USA Mountain Bike Race Stowe
photo: E.Johnson

Our buddy Harris of the Old Spokes Home at the 2012 Single Speed Mountain Bike World Championships in Stowe this past weekend. I unfortunately couldn’t make the event as I’d had prior plans to be in Montreal, but from the looks of the video above (thanks Video-Vermont) and from the stories I’ve heard, I know everyone must have had a blast.  I heard there was even a 40 oz drinking contest and a maple syrup chugging stop! See some more photos here.

Black Cat Bicycles: Singlespeed 29er

This Black Cat Singlespeed 29er has got to be one of the most badass singlespeed mountain bikes that I’ve seen lately. XTR cranks & brakes, Fox fork, Chris King hubs & headset, and ENVE carbon rims put the icing on the perfect angel food foundation of a mountain bike frame. Plus, the dropouts are rad! See some detailed shots below and be sure to have a look at some more of the Aptos, CA frame builder’s work.

Retrotec: Triple Top Tube Mountain Bike

retrotec triple top tube mountain bike

Inglis and Retrotec are two hand built brands started out of Napa Valley, CA in 1993. Inglis has you covered for your road, mountain or cyclocross needs while Retrotec picks up with the funky stuff. There are 6 varieties of the Retrotec: The Classic, The Triple, The Twin, The Double, The Half and the Step Through. This burly singlespeed above is of the triple top tube design and is sporting an ideal built. I spy some White Industries and Thomson in there…

LandShark: Dirt Shark Mountain Bike

LandShark Dirt Shark Mountain BIke

It’s been a while since I’ve featured a mountain bike, and what better way to welcome back the knobbies than with a Landshark Dirt Shark. This is probably one of the “tamer” Land Sharks you’ll see as it’s a singlespeed with a simple paint job. See all the fine details below.

Bishop Bikes: Green Machine Mountain Bike

I woke up today staring at my mountain bike and then looked at the calendar and realized it’d be a while til our trails dry up, let alone lose the snow. We’ve had a ton of snow this month which makes mountain biking nearly impossible. So to fill that MTB void, I’ll share some photos of this Bishop Bikes Green Machine. Check out a few more below and see how it all came together at their Flickr.

Black Market: NSF

Saw this on Prolly earlier, the Blackmarket NSF has been creating some buzz on the interwebs as of late and perhaps it’s due to its versatility. 26″ bike bike stuntin’? It can do that. FGFGS Tarck 700cmx-in’, yea that too. Or maybe a Single Speed urban bomb-proof curb-hoppin’ scraper-bike-passing beast; probably it’s best setup yet. Check out Prolly Is Not Probably for some more info and photos.
