Specialized S-WORKS & McClaren TT Helmet

s works mcclaren tt helmet

This is right here is plain awesome. Specialized teamed up with the folks at McClaren to design the most aerodynamic TT helmet out there. Regardless of head positioning, this helmet is far more aero than a bald, helmet-less mannequin and is designed to show an identical drag profile no matter what the position. Specialized Turbo

specialized turbo ebike

Specialized is claiming the Turbo eBike electronic bicycle to be the fastest electronic bicycle yet, and at a max speed of 28 mph it sounds like its got competition beat! What do you guys think of ebikes? I personally think if they’re great. Never ridden one and don’t really intend to ever own one either, but what about all those people fed up with over-paying at the gas pump? If they’ll get more people to drive less then that’s a great thing. Maybe those people will eventually get a “real” bike for the weekends too. Every cycling junky had their gateway at one point or another.

Specialized Shiv Concept: “Lunch Ride Cheater”

shiv road bike specialized

I came across this Shiv concept road bike yesterday via Neil Brown’s blog and had to pass it along.  This is what appears to be a mix between a Specialized Shiv TT frame and a road bike – perhaps they’re planning something for 2014? On their Facebook page it’s described as a “Lunch Ride Cheater” – likely referring to the sub-hour hammerfest that some Specialized employees embark on each lunch break. “A 1-off Shiv built as a road bike and ridden daily by Specialized creative director, Robert Egger.” – Specialized

What I’m curious about is the geometry…I’d like to know whether the front-end angles have been altered at all for the needs of a road racer. I’d be a little nervous diving into a corner with TT geometry as the seat tube looks pretty steep, making me assume the head tube is angled similarly. Either way, this is a 1-off daily rider for Specialized’s creative director Robert Eggar and I wanna learn more! Anyway, be sure check out the shots I posted below and also to head over to the Specialized Facebook see some more on this Shiv concept.

Limited Edition Specialized Venge Shoe

photo: VeloDramatic

Specialized made only 40 pairs of these patent leather BOA bowling kicks to go along with the Venge launch at McLaren. Can’t say I’d sport a pair but if limited edition collaborations are up your alley and you hate tying your shoes, then these just might be perfect for you.

Specialized StumpJumer 29er

LordOnOne uploaded a few awesome photos of this Specialized StumpJumper, and while I’m not a fan of full-suspension cross country bikes, I gotta say this is a pretty tight setup. Check out the photo below of it straight out of the showroom (reflectors and demo pedals). Continue Reading
