I recently sold my Soma Double Cross frame to help fund a 26″ touring bike and transfer the parts back onto my Bianchi San Lorenzo. I wanted something steel of course, and capable of carrying decent weight for both mini bike camping trips and longer tours in the future. Twenty six inch wheels were in my criteria as well – I’m looking to build something bomb-proof.

So, after some homework and comparing geometries, I’ve decided to pick up a Soma Saga frame/fork and am waiting on a few things to complete the build (hopefully in the next 2 weeks). In the mean time, have a look at a couple Sagas who happened to cross paths in China on the Sichuan-Tibet border.

My buddy Charles sent this photo my way and all I can say is my jaw dropped; and that I’d like to read this guys tour journal! See more fully-loaded touring bikes here and read the rider’s stories here.
