1990 Roy Cottingham Record Lo-Pro

1990 roy cottingham columbus record lo pro (1)

I’ll admit it, I full geeked out when I first saw this 1990 Roy Cottingham Record Lo-pro. I don’t think I’d ever want to ride such a bike, but Columbus Record tubing, the Corima carbon 4-spoke, Mavic SSC rear derailleur, and drilled frame/lugs surely make for a killer lo-pro. I mean, look at that fork crown! The paint is rad too, reminds me of a bruised banana.

See some more shots from Rookilo below, and read up on the full build on RetroBike.

Vintage MTB Jerseys

Vintage MTB Jerseys

monkeywrench cycles

via Brian Vernor

A nice display of old-school mountain bike jerseys at Monkeywrench Cycles. This reminds me, I still have my Toy Soldiers jersey given to me by my coach Dan back in the day (when I was racing w/ Team Colavita). I’ll have to take a couple photos of it.

Eddy Merckx Corsa Extra

Eddy Merckx Corsa Extra

After fully geeking-out at Sunshine Roleur’s photostream, I came across the Merckx Corsa Extra and really became fixated on the paint! I’m a life-long and devoted Bianchi fan as well as an admirer of Merckx, so this frame hit it home for me. If you’ve got some time to burn, browse (or bookmark and save it for later) through this Flickr stream, you won’t be disappointed.

1894 Clement

This 1894 Clement 3-wheeler from Collectvelo is one of the raddest adult tricycles I’ve seen, ever. Check out that lantern and rear axle design.

Beauties: Chiossi Cycles Maino 3-Speed

I bet this photo has you drooling already. This Chiossi Cycles Maino frame was originally built in the 1940s and I’m sure it had lots of love throughout it’s life, but no love like Paolo Chiossi gave to it. He removed the cable and pump bosses, gave it this lovely eggplant paint job, and built up a nice pair of wooden Ghisallo rims.  The bike features a dynamo front hub and a 3-speed coaster in the rear, both Sturmey-Archer of course. Check out a few of my favorite shots below and make sure to head over to Cycle EXIF for the full story. Continue Reading
